Weekend Warriors
Respite Care Connection

Bringing youth together to connect and build friendships!

Weekend Warriors is a supportive program for children connected with FSCD, Children’s Services, or Post‑Adoptive Supports. The program strengthens self‑esteem, skill development, and positive social connection through experiential learning in a fun, safe, and welcoming environment. A staff‑to‑participant ratio of 1:3 ensures that each child receives meaningful support. All staff are trained in safety, risk awareness, emotional‑regulation strategies, and Standard First Aid/CPR.

Each day offers a rich mix of experiential activities such as field trips, games, crafts, and outdoor adventures. Children may take part in biking, geocaching, disc golf, scavenger hunts, hot‑dog roasts, and time in green spaces throughout the city. The group also visits recreational venues such as swimming pools, Heritage Park, the zoo, and Telus Spark.

To help nurture peer relationships and reduce distractions, children are asked to leave money, cell phones, electronics, and toys at home. Participants should arrive having eaten a late breakfast or early lunch unless otherwise specified and are encouraged to bring a healthy snack and a water bottle.

Please note: 72 hours’ notice is required for cancellations before the full amount is deducted from your respite contract.
