Summer Programs and Respite
Respite Care Connection is a specialized program for children and youth aged 6–17 who are connected with FSCD, Post‑Adoptive Supports, or Children’s Services.
The program specializes in strengthening participants’ self–esteem, skill development and socialization skills in a fun and safe environment with a ratio of one staff to three youth. All staff are trained in safety, risk management, emotional regulation strategies and have Standard First Aid/CPR certifications.
Each day of this 4 or 5-day camp is filled with various activities including field trips, games and crafts. This may include biking, geocaching, disc golf, scavenger hunts, hot dog roasts, and activities in outdoor green spaces across the city.
We will also use recreation venues such as swimming pools, Calaway Park, the Calgary Zoo, Telus Spark centre.
Cost for Specialized 4 and 5-day Summer Camp:
Depending upon your FSCD contract, there may be a parent-portion cost to this program. Parents of Summer Campers using this option sign up for the entire week and have “specialized day camp” added/written into their contract. The parent portion is $300 with the rest covered by FSCD. Enviros may have subsidies available.
Summer Respite:
In order to accommodate full-week campers, parents wishing to use a portion of their respite funding for one – three days per week can do so by contacting [email protected] the Tuesday prior to the desired week of camp to check for availability. Parents will be billed for the entire day during the summer. This option is billed at $20.00 per hour or any portion rounded to the nearest 15-minute increment. Additional fees may be billed. We bill directly to FSCD.
