Program Overview  

Shunda Creek is a wilderness-based addiction Treatment program for youths aged 18 – 24.

Position summary

Reporting to the Shunda Creek Recovery Centre Program Manager, the Intake Coordinator will support pre-admission and aftercare work with Shunda Creek Recovery Centre. Work with the Shunda Creek Recovery Centre would include assessment and review of treatment applications for young adult males interested in attending the program. This includes trips to Shunda Creek Recovery Centre (frequency to be determined) for the purpose of collaborating with Key Workers and Treatment Teams in order to provide after care support for clients as they transition out of the program. This position will work closely with the therapists and leadership team at Shunda Creek to assist with supporting the applicants to program. This position may support other duties as assigned.

The Intake Coordinator must follow all Enviros’ policies and procedures, health and safety protocols, legislative protocols, and provide support as needed so that accreditation standards are met.

Accountabilities

  •  The intake coordinator will respond to all applicants within 1-2 working days of receiving an application or inquiry.
  •  The Intake Coordinator will ensure that applicants have a full understanding of the program and requirements prior to admission
  •  The Intake Coordinator will interview applicants to the program to determine fit for the program
  •  Support the applicant in their application process to ensure all necessary documentation is provided
  •  Prior to all decisions about an applicant being accepted to the program, the Intake Coordinator will consult with the program therapist to ensure that there is a good fit.
  •  Create a plan to come to the program and set intake date in collaboration with shift supervisors.
  •  Ensure that supports are in place for the applicant to be ready for treatment.
  •  If the applicant is not successful with their application, the Intake Coordinator will assist this person in accessing other resources to ensure their safety and well being

Qualifications/Experience

  •  Completion of a bachelor’s degree in Addictions or a combination of a bachelor’s degree in a Human Services field with course work in Addictions.
  •  A related degree combined with a diploma related to addictions, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, may be considered.
  •  Individuals eligible for registration under the Health Professions Act must maintain active registration. Individuals may require authorization/permission under regulation to perform restricted psychosocial interventions and/or restricted activities.
  •  At least 3 years of relevant experience in addictions and mental health
  • Experience in assessing and supporting people who have used or are using substances.
  • Training in Motivational Interviewing and an understanding of harm reduction related to substance use would be an asset.
  • Experience in the not-for-profit sector is an asset
