ConneXions Respite Care Connection
Bringing young people together to connect, learn, and build meaningful friendships through experiential learning.
ConneXions is an inclusive, strengths‑based program designed for youth with complex needs. The group focuses on building confidence, supporting skill development, and enhancing social connection through experiential learning activities. Programming is delivered in a fun and safe environment with a staff‑to‑youth ratio of 1:3. All staff are trained in safety practices, risk management, emotional‑regulation strategies, and Standard First Aid/CPR.
Youth participating in ConneXions must be involved with FSCD (Family Support for Children with Disabilities), Children’s Services, or Post‑Adoptive Supports.
Each day offers diverse, hands-on experiences such as field trips, group games, and creative activities. Youth may participate in biking, geocaching, disc golf, scavenger hunts, hot dog roasts, and outdoor activities across the city, as well as visits to recreation and cultural venues such as community pools, Heritage Park, the zoo, and Telus Spark.
To support engagement, relationship building, and full participation, we ask that youth leave money, cell phones, electronics, and personal toys at home. Youth are encouraged to have a late breakfast or early lunch before attending, unless otherwise communicated. Please send a healthy snack and a water bottle to support comfort and hydration throughout the day.
Please note: 72 hours’ notice is required for cancellations before the full amount is deducted from your respite contract.
