The Program – Journeys
Journeys is a community group living program for youth age (12-17 years old). This program offers a strength based, trauma informed, recovery-based philosophy for youth struggling with trauma, neglect, family instability, mental health challenges and are in need of a safe place to grow and develop while preparing to transition to family or community. 
 
The Position – Youth and Family Care Practitioner 
The Youth and Family Care Practitioners build relationships and trust with the youth, provide care to enhance areas of competence, and work to develop skills in individual areas of need. This is done by engaging the youth with intentional practice, recreation, life skills, community involvement and therapeutic programming. Youth and Family Care Practitioners are responsible for some case management and key worker responsibilities. Practitioners are part of a team that works collectively with family and community to ensure supports are collaborative. 
 
Qualifications/Experience
•Post-secondary education in the Human Services or related field
•1-2 years of child and youth care, social work or human services experience 
•Police Record Check with Vulnerable sector check (within six (6) months)
•Child Intervention Check (within one (6) months)
•CPR and First Aid certification required
•Knowledge of strength-based practice and trauma informed care necessary 
•Valid Class 5 driver’s license (Class 5 GDL will not be accepted)
•A clean driver’s abstract containing not more than two (2) minor offences or one (1) major offence.

Salary: $45,000-$52,000 annually
