About The Triveri House
The Triveri House is home to 37 young adults between the ages of 18 and 24 who were previously experiencing chronic or episodic homelessness and who may be subject to substance addictions. It follows a housing first model that recognizes that meeting the basic need of a safe, stable place to live is required before homeless individuals can work on other issues that led to or contributed to their homelessness. The building’s 37 apartments are distributed among individuals with more complex needs that require longer-term housing, individuals who need transitional housing for 24 months or less, and those who are finding housing a barrier to moving forward and need a place to live for five to nine months. Recognizing that each individual is unique and has needs that may shift from less complex to complex, tenants may stay until they are 29.
All units are bachelor-style suites with a kitchenette and washroom. There is also a community room for activities, and a kitchen and dining room for group meals and socializing. On the main floor, barrier-free suites are available for residents with mobility challenges or those using wheelchairs.
What is Enviros' Role?
As the service provider of Triveri House, Enviros is responsible for ensuring that tenants have a safe living environment and for providing support to help tenants move from being at-risk for experiencing homelessness to living independently. This journey begins when an individual is referred to Triveri House, with a dedicated Enviros’ caseworker identifying his or her strengths and goals.
Based on these, the caseworker helps the individual take responsibility for developing a plan to attain those goals and connect them to the appropriate personal, professional and community supports and services, from education to employment and health care to addiction treatment. Programming within Triveri House is designed to build both one-to-one relationships and community, while incorporating housing first, trauma informed care and harm reduction models of care. To ensure that all tenants have a safe space to call home, staff are on-site 24 hours a day, seven days a week, walking the halls, getting to know tenants, and monitoring visitors and guests.
